NymVPN logs stay on your device. They are never sent to Nym automatically, and they contain technical diagnostics, not your browsing activity. This article explains what is in them; if you are looking for where to find them, see How to find app and daemon logs in NymVPN?
What the logs contain
NymVPN keeps two kinds of logs:
- App logs record what the interface is doing: app startup events, your OS and app version, and UI errors such as a screen failing to load.
- Daemon logs record what the tunnel is doing: connection attempts, handshakes, timestamps, routing and DNS events, and network changes such as switching from Wi-Fi to mobile data.
What the logs never contain
Logs do not record the websites you visit, the content of your traffic, or your account credentials. The Nym network is designed so that meaningful activity logs can't exist in the first place: no single node sees both who you are and what you're doing. When do logs leave your device?
Only when you choose to share them. Support may ask you to attach logs to a ticket when troubleshooting a connection issue. You can also enable anonymous diagnostics and error reporting in the app settings if you want to help improve NymVPN; sharing is always your choice.
Never share your 24-word access code, in logs or anywhere else. See Can I share my NymVPN 24-word access code with anyone?
