NymVPN lets you choose two locations independently: an Entry location (where your traffic enters the Nym network) and an Exit location (where it reaches the open internet). You can pick a country and let NymVPN select a node for you, or search for a specific gateway yourself.
How to change your location
- Open NymVPN and disconnect if you are connected.
- Tap or click the Entry or Exit location selector on the home screen.
- Pick a country from the list, or use the search bar.
- Connect. Your new route is active right away.
When you pick a country, NymVPN automatically selects a gateway in that country. Reconnecting selects new nodes, which is also a quick fix for a slow route. See Why do I experience slow speeds on NymVPN?
How to select a specific server
The location selector's search works on more than countries. You can search gateways by name, country, or IP address and pick the exact node you want. The full list of gateways is public; see Where can I find the NymVPN server list?
Which locations should you choose?
Entry close to you for speed; Exit wherever you need to appear. For strategy on picking countries for privacy, speed, or content access, see Best NymVPN server location: how to choose entry and exit countries. If an IP checker shows a different country than you selected, that has an explanation: Why does an IP check show a different country than I selected?
