The Nym network is run by independent operators, and anyone can become one. Running a Nym node adds your infrastructure to the decentralized network that powers NymVPN, and earns you NYM token rewards for the work your node does.
What running a node involves
A Nym node is a server you operate that routes traffic for the network, as a mixnet node, an entry gateway, or an exit gateway. You'll need a VPS or dedicated server, basic command-line comfort, and NYM tokens to bond your node to the network. The full setup, bonding, and maintenance guides live in the operators documentation; that is the authoritative resource and the right place to start.
New operator? The Delegations Program helps you start
New nodes face a cold-start problem: rewards depend on being selected for the active set, and selection favors nodes with stake behind them. The Nym Delegations Program exists to fix exactly that. Nym delegates tokens from its treasury to well-performing nodes, helping new operators reach the active set and turn a profit faster. Registrations are rolling, so you can apply once your node is up and performing.
Not ready to run hardware?
You can still strengthen the network. Delegate NYM tokens to operators you trust, or simply use NymVPN: privacy loves company. See How can I contribute to the NymVPN network?
Where to get help
Node operation is community territory, and the community is active. Join the operators channels on Telegram or Discord for setup help and announcements.
