If a payment fails at checkout you'll see it right away, and the fix depends on how you paid. Most take a minute or two.
Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay
- Check the card details (number, expiry, CVC). Wallets fill these in; double-check a manual entry.
- Confirm funds. The full amount must be available.
- Check with your bank. Some block subscription or international charges by default.
- Try another card, or another method entirely: Apple Pay, Google Pay, crypto, or cash. See What payment methods are available for NymVPN?
$NYM token payments
- Fund the wallet with enough $NYM plus native chain currency for fees.
- Send the exact amount to the exact address, with any memo shown. Even a small mismatch blocks auto-crediting.
- Allow for confirmations: $NYM on the Nyx chain is seconds; ERC20 $NYM on Ethereum takes longer.
Other cryptocurrencies (BTC, XMR, ZEC, etc.)
- Underpaid? Send the remainder to the same BTCPay address, even after the timer expires; it credits once the full amount confirms.
- Overpaid? Contact support with the transaction details and we'll return the excess to an address you provide.
- Timing: each network differs. Bitcoin can be 30 to 60 minutes; Solana and Tron are usually seconds. Don't assume failure before the network has confirmed.
- Zcash must come from a shielded address. See Paying for NymVPN with ZEC (Zcash).
A specific error message?
Card declined, network timeout, regulatory issue, server error, session expired: each has a known cause and fix. See How to troubleshoot payment error messages.
Paid, but plan still inactive?
That's a different issue. See My NymVPN subscription isn't active after payment.
When to contact support
Reach out if the error repeats, your bank confirms a charge but the plan stays inactive, you overpaid, or you see a charge you don't recognise (see I was charged twice for NymVPN). Include your account ID, payment method, the exact error, and the date and time.
