Split tunneling lets you choose which apps use NymVPN and which apps connect directly to the internet. This is useful when a specific app does not work well over a VPN (for example, some banking, streaming, or local network apps), while you still want protection for everything else.
Split tunneling is currently only available on Android currently.
What split tunneling does
With split tunneling, you can:
Include apps in the VPN tunnel (they use NymVPN)
How to enable split tunneling on Android
Open the NymVPN app
Tap Settings ⚙️
Tap Split tunneling
-
Choose which apps should use NymVPN:
Tap on "NymVPN" next to an app to route it via NymVPN
Choose the Direct option to route it via your regular network connection.
-
Go back and Reconnect to apply the changes
Notes and tips
Split tunneling currently works with Fast mode only.
A newer version is in development that will let you choose per app between mixnet, fast, and open connection, along with support for other platforms.
If you are using Anonymous (mixnet) mode, split tunneling will not apply yet. Switch to Fast mode to use split tunneling.
