If you are seeing the following error message after installing NymVPN on your Windows device, "The code execution cannot proceed because VCRUNTIME140.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem.", follow the guide below to resolve the issue.
This error typically occurs because a necessary component, the VCRUNTIME140.dll file, is missing from your system. It is part of the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable, which some Windows installations do not have yet. Installing it from Microsoft fixes the error.
How to fix the VCRUNTIME140.dll error
-
Visit the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable download page. Go to the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable latest supported downloads page.
-
Locate the latest version. On the download page, look for the section titled "Latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Version."
-
Download the missing components. Download the appropriate version of the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for your system (either x86 or x64 depending on your Windows installation).
-
Install the redistributable package. Once the download is complete, open the file and follow the installation instructions.
-
Restart your computer. After the installation, restart your computer to ensure the changes take effect.
-
Reinstall NymVPN (if necessary). If you continue to experience issues, try reinstalling NymVPN from the download page.

Câu hỏi liên quan
Is VCRUNTIME140.dll part of NymVPN?
Không. It is a standard Microsoft component that many Windows programs rely on. NymVPN needs it present on the system but does not ship or modify it.
x86 or x64, which one do I need?
Nearly all modern Windows installations are 64-bit, so x64 is the usual choice. If unsure, you can install both; they coexist safely.
