Keeping NymVPN updated gets you the latest fixes, security improvements, and features. Updates are free on every platform, and the app tells you when one is available.
Windows, macOS, and Linux
The desktop app shows an in-app prompt when an update is available. Accept it and the app handles the rest.
- macOS: you can also check manually at any time. Click the NymVPN icon in the menu bar and select Check for updates.
- Linux: update through the same method you installed with. If you installed the .deb package, update via
apt; if you used the install script, re-run it; Flatpak users update through Flatpak.
Every release is also published on nym.com/download and GitHub, and announced in the Nym Telegram and Discord channels, so you can always download the latest installer directly.
iOS
Update through the App Store. iOS fixes ship regularly, so keeping automatic updates on is worth it.
Android
Update through the store you installed from: Google Play or F-Droid. If you installed the APK directly, download the latest APK from nym.com/download/android and install it over the existing app. See How to use F-Droid for NymVPN?
Why updating matters
