You can pay for your NymVPN subscription using Zcash (ZEC). Here are some important details to make sure your experience goes smoothly.
Use a Wallet That Supports Shielded Addresses
Zcash supports two types of addresses:
Transparent (t-addresses): Similar to Bitcoin addresses, not privacy-preserving.
Shielded (z-addresses): Provide full privacy and encryption of transaction details.
Some wallets, like Brave, only support transparent addresses. To ensure your payment works correctly, please use a wallet that supports shielded transactions, such as Edge or YWallet.
Transaction delay in BTCPay
We use the BTCPay plugin to process Zcash payments. Please note:
Your payment won’t show as confirmed immediately.
BTCPay detects the transaction after it receives 1 blockchain confirmation.
This can take a few minutes depending on network conditions.
Once this is done, you can proceed to the next step and generate your secret NymVPN access code!
Unified address support coming soon
The Zcash ecosystem is moving towards unified addresses, which make using shielded and transparent funds simpler.
We are in contact with the BTCPay team, and support for unified addresses will be included in a future update.
