Why are certain online services not working with NymVPN (emails, torrenting)?

When you are connected to NymVPN, you might encounter issues with sending emails and other online services such as torrenting. 

Why does this happen?

The Nym network has a built-in exit policy that restricts certain types of traffic. While Nym is against all forms of censorship, this policy is designed to prevent abuse by email spammers (via an IP address-based deny list) and maintain a healthy experience for operators running the network (via a port-based allow list).

As of October 2024, our policy is quite permissive and allows for a mostly unaltered online experience, with the exception of sending emails via SMTP (ports 25 and 2525).

What should I do?

If you're unable to send emails or calendar invites using your email client, consider using the web-based version of your email provider.
